Alabama Theatre:

The Alabama Theatre is a well-known local landmark and is regarded as one of the most prestigious locations for live performances in the city. It plays host to a diverse array of events, ranging from stand-up comedy and concerts to ballet performances and Broadway shows.

A favorite for local school field trips since the Pizitz was still a department store, the Alabama Theater is one of the oldest and most iconic performance venues in the region. Whether you are looking for a fun night out with friends or want to experience the best of the local arts scene, the Alabama Theatre is the place to be. And while you’re there you can also walk across the street to check out the Lyric Theatre or even take a tour through the McWane Science Museum too. In addition, there is a children’s play area, a train ride, and a carousel at the zoo. You’ll see a wide variety of animals here, including rhinos, giraffes, elephants, and tigers, to name just a few.

And if you happen to be in the area during Halloween, be sure to check out Boo at the Zoo!

The McWane Science Center is an interactive museum that provides educational opportunities in the fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. The museum features interactive exhibits across all four floors, in addition to an IMAX theatre on the top floor.

One of my favorite parts of the museum is the Cahaba River exhibit, which allows visitors to see the real-life river environment up close. Whether you’re looking for a fun educational experience for the kids or simply want to expand your own knowledge of the natural world, the McWane Science Center is the perfect place to be.

Attending a game of the Birmingham Barons, the city’s team in the minor league is an excellent way to get a taste of the warm southern hospitality that Birmingham is known for. The Barons play their home games at Regions Field, which is situated in the central business district of Birmingham.

In walking distance from Regions Field, beer lovers will find Good People Brewing Company, the city’s first craft brewery and home to the infamous Snake-Handler IPA that will completely put you down after 1 glass – You’ve been warned!
